- What is an endowment fund?
- An endowment fund is similar to a savings account, which generates interest on the money deposited. However, an endowment is different than a savings account because only the interest may be withdrawn. With continued deposits over the years, endowments will significantly impact a site budget. If you donate to an endowment fund, your gift continues to give year after year.
- Why should I donate?
- As public support for conservation reaches its peak, demands on public resources are also at an all-time high. The challenge of protecting Texas's rich natural and cultural resources is so great that it exceeds the capacity of the public sector to meet the demand. By making a tax-deductible contribution to the Lone Star Legacy Endowment Fund, your gift will be joined with others into a fund that will continue to grow, ensuring that the resources you enjoy today are preserved for future generations – forever.
- Are donations tax deductible?
- Yes, donations to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation are tax deductible as a charitable contribution.
- How much of my money will actually go towards the Lone Star Legacy Endowment Fund?
- Every cent you donate will go the Lone Star Legacy Endowment Fund. This fund, held by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation, is annually audited by a recognized national accounting firm and this information is made available to donors.
- How will the money be used?
- Only the interest generated from the endowment funds will be used to support each site's needs, providing additional funding for continued operation, additional staff and equipment, maintenance, repairs and improvements. Every cent that you donate will go to the Lone Star Legacy Endowment Fund, held by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
- Which parks will receive my donation?
- You choose where the money goes. There are over 200 State Parks, Fisheries, Wildlife Management Areas and educational facilities that can be sponsored. You may also make a donation to the Lone Star Legacy General Endowment Fund, which will be spread evenly throughout all sites.
- How else can I personally help local State Parks, Hatcheries, Wildlife Management Areas, and other facilities ?
